Harry Potter Cake

I LOVE Harry Potter and have wanted to make a Harry Potter themed cake for a long time. I finally got the chance!

It was so fun, and there are a million different things I could have done on the cake. I chose to just make it classic Harry Potter. You have to have a wand, the Sorting Hat, Harry's glasses and his scarf of course. I have to say that I'm pretty pleased at how the cake turned out and would love to make more Harry Potter themed cakes in the future.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse Cakes

I have made other Minnie Mouse cakes, but no Mickey Mouse cakes and I couldn't pass up the chance to make a set. Come on these are freaking adorable. I loved making these cakes! First we have the clean look of Mickey with some cute shoes to really set it off. Then a classic red Minnie Mouse dress complete with ruffles under her skirt. I made the hats out of rice krispies, which held up the ears better than cake would have.

Halloween Skull Cake

Okay, so this isn't probably something I would make all the time, but in the month of Halloween I think it's appropriate. The person that wanted this cake was very specific in what they wanted. So I made the cracked skull spilling with blood (don't ask me how a skeleton can have blood, I was confused too). It is completely buttercream (with a lot of food coloring). They were happy with it and that's what counts.

Octonauts

I love how this cake turned out, it looks so clean and crisp, not to mention super cute. Octonauts is a fun, educational show for kids that takes place underwater. There are cute little animal characters, but I didn't make any for the cake because they had plastic figures to put on the cake at the party (unfotunally I didn't get a pictur with them on top). All the little details are fondant. Making all the different colors took a while, but I think it was totally worth the result.

Inside Out Cupcakes

Inside Out was such a cute movie and I had fun creating these cupcakes for a themed birthday party. The cupcakes are color coordinated with the wrapper and the "memory balls" with a cute silhouette of Riley, the main character in the movie, on top. I think silhouettes are classic and adorable. I drew it on paper first and then individually cut each one out of fondant. Putting them in a cupcake tower makes them that much more fun!

Buttercream Rose Minnie Mouse Cake

How adorable is this cake? This bottom tier of this cake is buttercream swirl roses. I love how girly and sweet they look. They are also super simple and fast to complete. Of coarse on top I had to put a Disneyland Minnie Mouse hat. This cake is all actually cake and edible too.

Romantic Ruffle Cake

I love the over-sized flowers on this cake. For this cake I bought the edible flowers, but I could have made them had time permitted it. I also love doing ruffles on cakes. They are just so romantic and fun.

Mario Cupcakes

These little guys were fun to make. Super Mario has many characters, and I only make a few. These guys are all buttercream. If  I had the chance to make them again I think it would be nice to do them in fondant, to be able to add little more detail.

Simple Minnie Mouse Cake

This buttercream cake is very simple and super cute. Only the bows and Minnie Mouse head are made out of fondant. The border and bows along the side make it very girly and give the cake something different. I love the top of this cake, it just shows you that sometimes less really is more.

LEGO Man Cake

Lego face! It took me a while to decide on the facial expression I wanted, but I'd say I like this face. And anyone who knows my son would say this is totally a face he makes, so it's perfect for his birthday. It is a 10 inch four layer cake with a 6 inch two layer cake on top. The cake stand I built out of actual Legos, but I know there are molds if you wanted to make them out of chocolate or something so that you could eat that too. I love this cake and so did my son, it was a hit at his Lego party.

An Eiffel Tower Birthday

Elegant, yet simple. Also a great way to find out you are going to Paris for your birthday! I hand drew the Eiffel Tower out of buttercream. It can be tricky drawing on a cake, you need a steady hand or you will have to scrape it off and start over.
