A Strawberry Birthday

It was my daughters birthday again and she wanted a Strawberry Shortcake themed birthday. The bottom tier of the cake is just a simple round cake with striped of fondant in different colors. The top tier is shaped like a strawberry, it is covered in fondant and I colored candy pearls black for the seeds. I put fondant balls and leaves around the cake o make it a little more fun (plus my daughter LOVES fondant so I used a lot). It was a big hit and she loved it. The actual cake was strawberry flavored too.

Pizza Cake

Is it a pizza or a cake?
It's both!
This cake was super easy to make. I just cut a sheet cake into a circle and covered it a pizza crust colored fondant. The sauce is strawberry jam, the cheese and pepironies are fondant. It does have a sort of raw uncooked look to it, but you could dust it with some edible dust or spray it with an airbrush if you wanted it to be "cooked".

Fall Leafs

I made this cake for one of my cousins weddings, she had all fall colors. I love the fall and had fun making this cake. It has 8", 10", and 12" tiers, they might look a little too close together to some people but it was the look I wanted for this cake. Everything is made out of fondant, I just cut and layed it out as I went.

loop bow

This is a fun birthday cake, and it can be done and many different ways and with different colors. The loop bow is done by cutting the fondant into strips, then folding over to make a loop. Glue the ends together with water and then put a loose ball of plastic wrap inside the loop to hold the shape and let it dry overnight.

Louis Vuitton

This cake was a copy of one of Louis Vuitton's bags. It is a bigger print and fewer colors, but it was as close as I could get it. I actually had cookie cutters that were really similar to the shapes on the bag. Putting the cake together was a snap and went really fast . . . it was making all the fondant colors and cutting out the shapes that took a while. But I was pretty happy with how it turned out and have actually made it a few times since then, very popular.

Sonic

Sonic the Hedgehog. There is nothing too extraordinary about this cake, but it gives you an idea of what can be done with fondant. You can make any character you want, great for kid birthday parties. I just free handed it, it was pretty fast too - you can do anything with fondant.

It There a Ring Inside?

Guess what jewelry store this came from? Just kidding it's cake. Okay so you alrady knew that, but since June weddings are so popular I thought it was perfect. It is pretty simple to make too. I just cut 4 squares out of a sheet cake, made the blue fondant and then put a bow on top. It took some time and effort but it really isn't a very time comsuming cake and everyone know what it is sopost to be, people are impressed easily.

Zebra Sass

This cake was super easy and looks really cool. I just iced the cake like normal, rolled out black fondant and cut it into strips. Laying on the pattern was no trouble at all, just do whatever because ever zebra is different. The I added some pink fondant balls on the bottom for a little pop. Easy and fast.

April Showers and Babies

Spring is when the new babies come and this seemed like a perfect cake for the occasion. The lady in the dress is a butter cream squiggle design and the flowers are fondant cutouts. Very simple and very cute.

cupcake tier

Cupcakes are always fun and everyone loves to have a bite size piece of their own. Birthdays and cupcakes just go together, and stacking them up just makes it all the more fun.

First Birthday

The first birthday is always special. This was my son Rome's first birthday cake. He had his own little cake that he got to devour with his own hands. It was a 4 inch round cake that I covered in blue colored fondant. Just a simple 1 on the top and all of the other colors rolled into balls on the bottom. I made a big cut out 1 for everyone else to eat. I just chose some boy colors and cut fondant out into different sized stripes. Putting them on the cake took a little bit of time, but I think it turned out cute.

Circles

Happy New Year!
I thought that we could start the new year off with a big three tiered cake. This design is a sort of geometric/abstract mix. It is covered in fondant and all the shapes are also fondant. It is actually pretty easy to do, but a little time consuming. It is much easier to do with two people, one cutting out and the other placing on the cake. One thing that you have to be careful of is cutting out too many shapes and then they dry out before they are on the cake. A little helpful hit is to cover the cutout pieces with plastic, although it is still not good to get too ahead of yourself.
